Automatic and manual lessons across Dublin 15, prepared on the Mulhuddart test centre routes — with home pick-up available.
Traffic is the defining feature of learning to drive in Blanchardstown. Stop-start queues, multi-lane roundabouts, bus lanes, pedestrians at every junction — there is a lot to watch, and in a manual a good share of your attention is spent on the clutch instead of on the road.
An automatic removes that. No gear changes in slow-moving traffic, no stalling at a busy junction, no rolling back on a hill start. What is left is the part the test actually marks hardest: observation, positioning, lane discipline and reading junctions early.
The twelve EDT lessons are still mandatory. The manoeuvres — turnabout, reversing around a corner, hill start — are still on the test. The standard expected of you is identical, and testers do not mark an automatic more gently.
The one lasting difference is the licence. Pass in an automatic and your licence covers automatic vehicles only; to drive a manual you would sit the test again in one. For most Dublin 15 learners that is irrelevant, since most new cars sold here are automatic, hybrid or electric. If you might need to drive a work van, think about it before you commit — Enoch teaches manual too, so either route is open.
Pre-test lessons and mock tests run the Mulhuddart test centre routes, in the automatic if that is what you will sit the test in. Practising in the same car you will be tested in matters more than people expect: pedal weight, mirror positions and the biting point of the brakes all take a lesson or two to get used to.
There is a full guide to the centre on the Mulhuddart driving test centre page.
Automatic lessons cover Blanchardstown, Castleknock, Clonsilla, Ongar and Mulhuddart. Home pick-up is available — Enoch collects you from your door and drops you back, which for most learners is the difference between a lesson that fits around work and one that does not.
Price: Contact for pricing per lesson, Contact for pricing for the block of twelve. Home pick-up and meet-at-the-centre rates are both on the pricing page. The school car is available for the test itself with comprehensive insurance for every student.
