The full Essential Driver Training course in Navan, taught by Enoch from lesson one to lesson twelve.
Essential Driver Training is the twelve-lesson course every first-time learner permit holder has to complete with an approved driving instructor before sitting the driving test. It is not optional and it cannot be shortened. Each lesson covers a set module, and your instructor signs your logbook when it is done.
That structure is fixed by the RSA. What is not fixed is how well it is taught, and that is the only part you are actually choosing when you pick a school.
Lessons run from Blackcastle in Navan and cover the town and the roads around it. You need a current learner permit before the first lesson — bring it, along with your logbook.
The pace is yours. Some people take two a week and are through the course inside two months; others space them out around work or college. What matters more than speed is practice between lessons with a fully licensed driver, because a module builds on the one before it and rust undoes progress fast.
The same instructor teaches all twelve. That sounds like a small thing until you have had the experience of explaining to a stranger what you covered last week.
This is the part people get wrong. Finishing your twelve EDT lessons means you have completed the mandatory course — it does not mean you are ready to pass. EDT makes you a safe road user. The test marks a specific set of behaviours on a specific set of routes.
That is what pre-test lessons and a mock test are for. Most students do their twelve, get practice in, then come back for route work closer to their test date.
Block of twelve: Contact for pricing. Single lesson: Contact for pricing. Transmission: manual or automatic — both are taught. Lessons Monday to Friday 9:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 16:30.

Yes. The twelve EDT lessons only count once you hold a learner permit, and your instructor records each one against it.
It depends how often you book and how much practice you get between lessons. Two a week gets most people through in a couple of months; one a fortnight takes longer and usually needs more revision.
You can, but most people are not ready. EDT is the mandatory course, not test preparation — pre-test lessons on the Navan routes and a mock test are what close the gap.
Bring your logbook. Completed modules stay completed, and lessons pick up from wherever you stopped.
